THE VILLA
Casa do Riacho is Algarvian in style and was built in 2009 to a high modern standard by the current owners, who know the area well and feel they have created the ideal place to offer instant relaxation and a perfect holiday haven. In addition to an abundance of character, the décor is fresh, homely, and well maintained. It also provides thoroughly modern facilities and is exceedingly well equipped. Located approx. 500 metres from the village of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo. The electric security gate opens on to a large gravel driveway, offering an ample and easily accessible parking area. A set of shallow steps leads from the drive to the house, and your first greeting is the beautiful, welcoming 8 x 4 metre pool, shimmering away, perfectly situated in front of the property, offering bathers sunshine all day and fabulous countryside views all around.
The villa has been lovingly designed, and the interior layout itself is appealingly unique, with accommodation on three levels. The décor is fresh and well-maintained. The front door leads directly into the open-plan living area, where you will be instantly charmed by the homely ambience. Firstly, a super fully equipped country-style kitchen opens out to a large dining area, ideal for more formal meals, just as the Portuguese culture suggests. There is also a small book library and a selection of games for guests enjoyment. Take a few steps down to the cosy lounge, where you will find comfy sofas and an armchair inviting you to relax. The room also boasts a smart TV, which comes with a huge compliment of key UK and international channels, plus there is a CD player and a small CD and DVD library. The room has a high vaulted ceiling and an upstairs galleried landing, and at sunset, sunlight cascades down from a wonderful abstract stained glass window in multicoloured hues. The arched French doors offer easy access to the pool, garden, and its terraces.
The sleeping accommodation is conveniently spaced around the house. The roomy master suite with king-size bed occupies the entire upper floor, with a super large terrace and ensuite bathroom featuring a large walk-in shower and "Jack and Jill" double basins. From the terrace, the hillside views are stunning, and it’s a wonderful spot to watch the sun rise and set across the hills and also to take in some romantic stargazing! The second double bedroom is positioned on the ground level, just off the dining room, and also has an adjacent shower room. The third bedroom, a twin with ensuite bathroom, includes a bath tub with shower and is positioned on the lower level and accessed from the far side of the lounge. The position of the three bedrooms ensures maximum privacy and comfort for all guests.
OUTSIDE SPACE
Aside from the well-planned and cosy interior, the outside living areas are a real treat. There are two large areas for dining, the main one being just off the dining room and kitchen. It is elevated and boasts a large round marble dining table, plus there is room for sunbathing on a large selection of sun beds. . From here, the views are wonderful, and at night this area is a great stargazing spot. There is easy access via steps to the pool from here, plus to a larger cobbled dining and sunbathing terrace with more amazing views. Here there is a large marble dining table and a purpose-built brick BBQ. To the far side of the property, there is an additional garden complete with a rotary clothes dryer and a further rustic garden area to the right of the driveway with numerous olive and carob trees. The villa is nestled amongst mature gardens with its Mediterranean and indigenous shrubs, plus interesting succulents and more carob/olive trees. There is a fabulous backdrop of green rolling hills and countryside on all sides. The thoughtfully planted gardens and paved terraces hug the house and create a genuine countryside feeling. The villa is private and, due to its elevation, is not overlooked on any side.

The villa has a very nice ambiance and combines modern architecture with the use of natural decorative stones. The property consists of a south facing living room with fireplace, a large dining area and spacious kitchen and TV room, all in open plan in addition to a guest bathroom. There is air conditioning and free Wi-fi throughout the entire property. Down one level you find the three double bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite). Access from the living room and bedrooms on to the terraces and pool area which features an outside shower and a fitted BBQ. Large terraces.
Access to the property is by tarmac road, the last part is a 1 km track that leads to the villa. A car is recommended and on this location there is a large cobblestone parking area for 6 cars.1 review -
Precious four-bedroom villa with swimming pool located near the picturesque village of Santo Estevao, with a beautiful natural environment. The nearest beach is Barrill in Santa Luzia, facing Pedras del Rei, located in the center of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve, just 2 km from Santa Luzia. In addition to some local restaurants, Tavira and Santa Luzia have plenty to choose from. Both places have a wide variety of restaurants and bars for a drink. It is highly recommended to have lunch or dinner at the nearby Casa do Abade in Santa Luzia, known for its good service (they make an extra effort) and simple fresh local food. Prices are very reasonable and their specialty, "Porco Preto", is a typical dish from Alentejo, where the black pig from this region is fed with acorns to give it a distinctive flavor. Ask the owner "Tito" for his wine recommendation, as he has many excellent local wines at affordable prices. Additionally, Pedras del Rei has a good restaurant called Vale del Rei, as well as a piano bar to entertain you late into the night. At Barrill Beach, you'll find a self-service restaurant, a burger joint, a pizzeria/creperie, a bar, craft shops and boutiques, a nautical club, and a massage service. If you don't like crowded beaches, this is the place for you. Upon arriving at Barrill Beach, even during high season, you only need to walk 500 meters in any direction, and you'll have the beach all to yourself!
One of the most pleasant and relaxed places to visit is Tavira, 5 km (3 miles) south of Stº Estevao. It is very easy to lose track of time in Tavira, a charming old town with a long history where time seems to have stopped. You can spend hours walking through the charming cobblestone streets with their numerous restaurants, shops, bars, and terraces to enjoy a refreshment under the sun. The old palace is nearby, and Ilha de Tavira beach is within walking distance and has many small restaurants. It is recommended to visit the recently renovated Pousada (Inn). This is a very pleasant destination throughout the year. During the summer months, there is a ferry from the city center, in front of the Happy Homes office, that goes to Ilha de Tavira and Quatro Aguas.
The villa has a beautiful open floor plan, modern furniture with a Mediterranean atmosphere and is very well equipped and consists of a spacious and bright living room with a wood stove and dining room. Next to the dining room is a large, fully equipped design kitchen with breakfast island and natural stone countertop. Two double bedrooms sharing a bathroom. The first floor is accessed by a natural stone staircase with a beautiful cast iron railing and consists of two double bedrooms, both with access to a south-facing terrace with sea views and table and chairs, two bathrooms (large master bedroom with flat-screen TV and one en suite). There are two bedrooms with double beds and two with two single beds. All rooms are spacious and have built-in wardrobes. Access from the living room, kitchen and a ground floor bedroom to the (partially) semi-covered terrace, lawn and pool. The garden is partially landscaped, automatically irrigated and has many mature and beautiful trees. Additionally, a large barbecue and sun loungers are provided next to the pool for guest use. In front of the living room, under the semi-covered terrace, you will find a cozy sitting area. Air conditioning in all rooms. An ideal holiday home near the village of Santo Estevao with charming restaurants and shops.
